COLUMBIA, SC WIS – A group tainted by scandal and allegations of voter fraud could lose a ton of cash. Thursday the House of Representatives voted
to strip the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now of all federal funds. Earlier this week the Senate took similar action. ACORN, which promotes fair-wage, education and housing issues, has office in Columbia — or at least, it used to.When we went there Thursday to see what impact the cuts could have, we found the place locked tight and the office space up for rent.The funding cuts will not take effect until approved by the president.The only South Carolina representative to vote in support of ACORN was Congressman Jim Clyburn. We attempted to reach his office for comment, but have not heard back.
